- Architect Antonio Martiniello returned to his native Naples after studying in Austria for five years, filled with enthusiasm for the new ideas he encountered abroad. But he also has a fine appreciation of a city so steeped in history, and his ability to balance both can be seen in his home and studio space, an apartment in a former palace built in the 1700s, with its original fresco paintings still intact. Here his taste for minimalism offers a modern edge in contrast to the ornate surroundings — an approach that looks ahead while appreciating the traditional craftsmanship that is still very much alive in Italy.
