- Architect Chris Cooper and interior designer Jennifer Hanlin achieved what seems like the impossible — they found 325 additional square feet in their Brooklyn condominium by applying what Chris calls "reductive simplicity." Inspired by Japanese design, they have cleverly reconfigured the layout of their home in a former schoolhouse by taking what was a crawl space for the water heater and converting it into a mezzanine.
