Modern Rural
  • Surrounded on all sides by sweeping hayfields, this striking modern home in the Canadian west is an ode to rural life. Created by industrial designer Omer Arbel for his colleague Randy Bishop and family, the house is constructed from Randy's extensive collection of 100-year-old beams salvaged from a series of warehouses he owns — all preserved intact. Not a single reclaimed plank was cut or altered, giving the home its distinctive geometric look, described by Arbel as "a piece of origami... draped over the landscape." Stunning. More here on Dwell.
