Atmospheric New York
  • When he found himself the lucky owner of a loft in a 1850s East Village building, John Derian was determined to preserve its almost untouched ambiance — before him it was owned by a sculptor, one of a trio of female artists who purchased the building in the 1960s; before that, it was a garment factory that specialized in shrouds. Love its warm and slightly mysterious atmosphere. More here on T magazine (including great photos of the space before John renovated it, too).
