- Diving off the coast of Therassia, an islet in Greece's Aegean Sea, Costis Psychas first spotted his future dream home on the island of Santorini. A warehouse built in 1860 for the island's now defunct pumice mine, it had been abandoned for decades and was mostly rubble. Several years of restoration were to follow, done with over 20 local artisans (and Costis, too). The results are stunning — a beautiful, serene retreat with breathtaking views of the sea.
