- Thinking outside the box in the case of Lynda and Peter Benoit means thinking inside it — they've installed a clever 16 x 17 x 10 foot wooden box inside their loft in the historic Besler Building, a former steam-engine factory in Emeryville, California. The box accommodates a bookcase on the outside, a bedroom on the inside (soon to have a bassinet for their new baby), and a dressing-room mezzanine above. Love this kind of creative approach to a living space — and read the Dwell article (and see more photos) here to see how they went about it, too.
