- Three years ago Jenny and Jorgen moved into their brand new townhouse in Helsingborg's newest neighborhood. Located a stone's throw from the city but still close to both nature and the sea, it's the perfect location for a young family. Jenny and Jorgen were also excited to have a new home that was a blank slate — moving in, the one thing they both wanted was white floors everywhere. When it came to the actual layout, the original version of the house was rather basic, consisting of a lower floor and a steeply roofed unfurnished attic. So downstairs they created an open plan kitchen and living room, with a guest room/office, bathroom and a laundry room. Upstairs they installed two bedrooms and a bathroom. As for decorating, they opted to keep the palette as simple as possible — white walls and floors with black furniture — adding interest with pattern and texture, such as the beautiful carved folding screen and Designers Guild wallpaper in the living room. A Chinese wedding cabinet, Moroccan lanterns, personal photo collages and drawings add personality to their home — and their 20 month old son Isaac is adding his own style to their space as well, with his toy collection and his budding interest in cooking (he has his very own little kitchen corner in his room). And though their home was at first conceived of as monochromatic, colour has been appearing here and there lately — not surprising as Jenny describes their home as a work in progress, ever changing and always fun.
