- This week's links. Enjoy.
Rue Magazine
The summer issue of Rue is out! Get yourself a cool drink and settle down for the latest wonderful read. I'm really loving the Icelandic home!
Monet's Gardener
Lovely first person interview by James Priest, the new British-born caretaker of Impressionist painter Claude Monet's stunning garden at Giverny. Via The Morning News.
Jane Eyre Illustrated
An elegantly designed website dedicated to the artwork for the celebrated novel by Charlotte Brontë. Jane Eyre has remained continuously in print since it was first published in 1847 — follow the link to see a huge range of illustrations for it over the years.
Canada's National Parks in Pictures
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the world's oldest national parks service: Parks Canada. Check out this slideshow featuring some of the 42 national parks under its umbrella. This makes me very proud to be Canadian.
Partners in Crime Fiction
The Guardian asks top crime fiction writers to choose their favourites in the genre. Great ideas for further reading — and watching, too. I definitely need to revisit the 1979 TV adaptation of John Le Carré's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy — with a brilliant Alec Guinness as George Smiley.
Reductionism
A lovely tumblr dedicated to the minimalist lifestyle. Not only does it make you think about what you really need, but it'll inspire you to do some serious decluttering, too.
Oreo Cameos
American artist Judith Klausner's Oreo Cameo series commemorates a time when women were expected to prepare three full meals a day — without the help of the labour-saving devices and ready made (or takeout) options we now enjoy. The project features delicate Victorian-style portraits carved from the icing inside Oreo cookies — quite amazing.
Summer Pie Party
Saveur has a great selection of summer pie recipes — perfect for rounding off a lazy weekend supper.
