A Parisian Sleeping Beauty
Extraordinary story this week about a Paris apartment that was uninhabited for 70 years, under lock and key, the rent faithfully paid but no hint of what was inside. An art collector's fairy tale.
Blanket Magazine
I've been checking out this fab online magazine a lot lately — it focuses on art, design and photography by emerging artists from around the world. Great read.
Trap Rooms
Here's something I didn't know about until now — trap rooms, or deliberate cartographic errors introduced into maps that chart the interiors of shopping malls, convention centers and airports, designed to catch acts of copyright infringement by rival firms. Fascinating.
Olympia
Listen to Olympia, the new Brian Ferry album, courtesy of NPR. Gorgeous as always.
The Scoop: sfgirlbybay
Check out this sweet interview with Victoria of sfgirlbybay about her lovely new companion Lucy, a rescue dog with the most amazing pale blue eyes.
Imagining the Unimaginable
Very cool — the Buddha was conceptualizing the existence of things on a molecular level centuries ago. Where mathematics meets poetry.
Operation Dollhouse
Caitlin had a great post the other day on Sacramento Street about Curbed National's Operation Dollhouse. Dollhouses were sent to six shelter publications, with instructions to decorate the dollhouse, photograph the final result, and then return it. See what Lonny, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Dwell and HGTV came up with!
Pumpkin Coconut Soup with Basil Pesto
This sounds wonderful — and it's a great way to take advantage of a seasonal favourite, too. A perfect autumn lunch or light supper. From Anne's Kitchen, via Tastespotting.
