- Antique dealer Lars Kristensen is a true Francophile — he chose his current location in Copenhagen because he thought that the street had a French flavour, with the International School and a charming French bistro just a few doors away. Now he lives here and runs Fil de fer, his antique shop.
There was work to be done before he moved in to the 100 year old building though — the proportions of the original structure were elegant, but Lars had to contend with some of the unfortunate renovations by the previous owner, such as heavy baroque decoration, added walls, a lowered ceiling and an ugly brown stain on the original larch planks of the floor.
Seven years later, his home is filled with light and space. Lars notes that though he is a collector by trade, he likes to allow each item room to breathe and be fully appreciated, and his eclectic collection of French-flavoured antiquities mixes happily with contemporary art works.
