- When I first saw the cover of Flea Market Style, featuring the dining area of the Shoreditch, London loft home of stylist (and the book's author) Emily Chalmers and her husband, I instantly ordered it online — without even knowing what was inside. It's still a huge fave of mine, so when I saw these photos of Emily's home on Marie Claire Maison I was thrilled that I could finally share it with you.
Emily and her husband live in Shoreditch, a trendy district of east London, and they've kept the original industrial look of the warehouse their loft once was, simply painting the brickwork white and retaining the concrete floor and neon ceiling lights. It's far from being a severe space, though, thanks to the natural light that floods the loft — and their extensive collection of vintage furniture, fabrics, objects, books and more, discovered in flea markets in London, New York, Amsterdam and other holiday destinations. Everywhere you look there's warmth, colour and texture — all with the charm of being unique pieces, each with a story to tell. Read more about this fascinating space (in French) here.
