- Photographer Hanne van der Woude combined a love of the Dutch landscape and a fascination with natural redheads (whom she decided to photograph seriously after reading in an English newspaper that they were a vanishing breed), when she shot this beautiful series of images — a series with a cinematic quality rather than the more usual documentary approach. The final pictures of 150 redheads are now published in the book MC1R – Natuurlijk rood haar (MC1R is the gene that controls skin and hair colour), with accompanying texts by Wim van Sinderen and Erik Sistermans.
