Beautiful and memorable images by Japanese photographer Masao Yamamoto, whose diminutive yet powerful work has been described as visual haiku. Yamamoto is interested in the concept of memory, which is why he deliberately ages his photos so that they seem to be images from the past — and gently cradling one of his tiny images in one's hand thus becomes a literal expression of holding onto a memory. He has said that "For me a good photo is one that soothes. Makes us feel kind, gentle. A photo that gives us courage, that reminds us of good memories, that makes people happy."
