- Claude and Claudine's house in Port-Joinville, located on the Atlantic coast on the island of Yeu, was the end result of a visit to friends on the island — once there, they were completely smitten. In 2005 they purchased this traditional early twentieth century house with an entry-through between the street and courtyard garden to the rear. The house had already been added to in the 1960s by its original owner, a blacksmith who had added a forge and an oil tank garage, turning it into a more commercial space — once it was theirs Claude and Claudine gutted, cleaned and gradually turned the building back into a more residential space, all the while retaining wonderful original details such as the original tiling and pine floors. Now they happily live in the easy and sunny home on the island they fell in love with. More photos here, too. Via Côté Maison.
