    Belgian Veggie Day
Starting this week the Belgian city of Ghent will become the first in the world to go vegetarian at least once a week. The regular weekly meatless day was created in recognition of the impact of livestock on the environment — the UN says livestock is responsible for nearly one-fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions. The city hopes the move will cut Ghent's environmental footprint — and help tackle the problem of obesity, too.

You can see the originals and more at The International Center for Photography, which is featuring an exhibit of Avedon's fashion work from May 15th to September 6th.
