- My sweetie and I are planning (that is, if the weather holds out) on having a little picnic on Canada Day afternoon, so I've been having a look at my copy of Panini, Bruschetta, Crostini by Viana La Place for some interesting and easy-to-carry lunch ideas. This is one of my fave cookbooks — it's full of lovely, simple food. That's a chocolate panino on the cover, incidentally. It's made by putting bittersweet chocolate between two slices of country bread and then toasting it in a 500 degree oven until the chocolate is melted and the bread is toasted lightly on both sides (you'll need to flip it once). Yum.
