The shelves continue to flow into the salon area, becoming the library. The 1950s "boudoir" style chair was found at a flea market, and is covered in alcantara. A pashmina throw and cushions add to the overall softness. Behind the chair, a painting by Kathryn Lynch changes subtly with the light. The overall look of the loft — white floors and ceiling, flooded with sunlight.
To me the New York loft apartment of stylist Gabrielle Sanders is an elegant lesson in editing — I love how a few carefully chosen pieces are used to such great effect (though having a beautiful space to put it in is definitely an advantage). Most of the furniture was flea market finds, simply recovered and displayed with loving care. Scanned from a late 1990's issue of Marie Claire Maison (photos by Marie-Pierre Morel).
